welcome to the

Impossibly romantic, this Cochrane rainy proposal is right out of an epic Nicholas Sparks romance novel (giving us some serious The Notebook vibes). We’re a little bit speechless with each adorable moment captured by Havilah Heger Photography. Keep reading for Amanda & Danny’s dreamy proposal story.

From the Photographer:

Danny reached out to me about proposing to his now fiancé, Amanda, and we chatted back & forth about how to make sure it was a complete surprise for her — and a surprise it was. It started pouring right before Danny asked the question and it all felt like a dreamy, wet fairytale. Total “the notebook” vibes. It was beautiful! Havilah Heger Photography

From the Bride to Be:

It started with me messaging Havilah and signing up for a 20 minute mini session for May 23, 2021. I’d been wanting our photos done by her for over a year, so we booked it. On our way from Lethbridge to Calgary that day, I kept complaining that COVID has been such a bummer and I needed something to look forward to. Little did I know, I’d have a whole year of planning a wedding to do only 8 hours later. We spent the day in Calgary shopping and chatting, just being in each other’s presence. In the evening, we headed to the spot Havilah decided on, and at 8:00, we began our photo session. Havilah had us do a few warm up poses, and then had me stand facing one way, and Danny behind me. She claimed to be “getting the best lighting”, and then told me to turn around. In front of me was Danny, on one knee, with a beautiful ring.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. It was pouring rain and on top of a small hill in a river valley, it was so perfect. I (of course) said yes after he finished his speech and I couldn’t stop crying. We continued our photo session and celebrated the beginning of our journey as an engaged couple. After the pictures, I discovered that Danny and Havilah had planned the entire thing. He had reached out to her over Instagram to plan a beautiful proposal, and WOW. We’re both so blessed to have been able to have Havi there to share and capture that magical moment with us.Amanda
