What are your favourite bridal gown trends for 2022?
There are a couple trends we are seeing with our designers this year! One being the square or scoop neck which has already started to make its mark on bridal fashion. We find this neckline to be universally flattering, timeless and oh-so-elegant. The second major trend we are seeing is puff sleeves! They are coming back in a major way and we are here for it. Having an exaggerated shape on your shoulders really creates the silhouette of a narrow waist while also bringing your eye up to your gorgeous face!
What are your favourite bridal accessory trends for 2022?
Capes! One of our favourite pieces right now to pair with a simple crepe or silk gown is a scattered pearl cape by Savannah Miller. It offers an amazing alternative to a bride who doesn’t want to wear a veil but likes the idea of adding something special for the ceremony. Speaking of pearls, we are seeing a resurgence of a love for pearls, which we are so excited about! They can be done in such a modern elegant way and we are loving it! We value craftsmanship and heirloom items so they are accessories that can be passed down through generations and last the test of time. Pearls do that so beautifully!
What kinds/styles of dresses and designers do you carry?
We call ourselves modern romantics with a bit of an edge. We try to balance modern silhouettes and styles with the soft romance of bridal, and then we like to throw something different and edgy into the mix! We work with boutique designers from all over the world who run small teams and offer couture looks. Working with such boutique designers allows us to problem solve with our brides to really create their perfect look, and it’s our favourite thing to do!
What styles would you recommend for different body types and shapes?
We could definitely tell you what “shapes” of gowns are found to be more flattering on some body shapes over others, but truthfully, we all have our own feelings about our bodies and what we love & want to highlight. Different shapes can invoke different feelings or emotions, so there is no “right way” to style yourself. It’s your body, so we will help you find a dress that makes you look and feel the way YOU want to on your day!
Any tips on helping brides decide which style of dress to choose?
Figure out what is important to you! We all have different value systems and sometimes that comes out during our gown shopping process. Maybe you value supporting small businesses, or having a small boutique designer work with you to hand-make your gown. Maybe those aren’t as important to you and you value the level of service provided or a killer deal! Once you have been shopping a bit, you will start to figure out what the important qualities are for you and that will help guide you into your decision.
Once you have shopped and started narrowing in to what you love, if you don’t have that immediate “YES!” moment, that is OKAY. We love to say, go home, have a glass of bubbles, look at videos of your venue, dream about your day. How do you want to feel? How do you want to look? Sometimes that brings up the emotional attachment to a certain look and then you know you have found your dress! One of our brides told us once that she asked herself which gown she would be sad NOT to wear, and then she knew that was her dress.
