welcome to the

We love when couples stay true to themselves and curate a wedding day that is special to them. After hearing from Mason Neufeld, the photographer behind this beautifully captured elopement, it’s so clear that this stunning elopement in Fraser Valley was exactly what Kathryn and Richard wanted, and so unapologetically true to who they are. They chose intimate moments over large gatherings, a slow morning over a busy day, and unique experiences over the “traditional” order of events.

From the photographer:

Intentional and thoughtful only just begin to describe the character of Richard & Kathryn. Both are makers: Richard is a carpenter and Kathryn an avid seamstress, designer, and all-around creative. They value hand crafted goods and see the value in investing in quality artisans. As film photography enthusiasts who enjoy a tangible print (and with Kat having past experience as a film laboratory technician) they came to me with a unique request that filled me with excitement: to photograph their nuptials in %100 film and leave my digital camera at home! I, of course, was delighted to comply. Photographing their wedding on purely film allowed for a slower pace to my process, and more time for us to connect and build an intimate environment instead of endlessly clicking away behind the lens.Mason Neufeld

The bride’s favourite flower is Dogwood, which were miraculously in bloom in the Fraser Valley. The eve before, they foraged a fresh bouquet and carefully assembled it with artisan ribbon from Stella Wolfe.

Richard and Kathryn invested in heirloom quality attire from head to toe for their day. A few of these handcrafted highlights include a shawl knitted by the Bride, pearl earrings and belt from her grandmother and the groom’s pocket square embroidered by his grandmother.

Their wedding day was filled to the brim with thoughtful details, all crafted with great care by makers who the couple intentionally selected. They didn’t compromise on what they cared most about, but are also masters at prioritizing their investments. Kat & Richard didn’t break the bank to celebrate the starting of their lives together, they actually kept everything well under twenty-thousand! A few of the details they focused on were the venue, bouquet, cuisine, and attire. From the very beginning they knew they wanted to be wed in the Springtime in the Rocky Mountains. The Fraser River Lodge flaunts the most picturesque view of their favourite mountain range. They stayed at the lodge on the days surrounding their elopement.Mason Neufeld

The Dinner

So much thought was put into the cuisine for the day; they dined in an intimate private hall that overlooked the river and mountain peaks. The kitchen crew at Fraser Valley whipped up an immaculate spread of their desired dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; each with multiple courses, served with a visit from the Chef.

It was a serendipitous spring day. Despite allowing for time to sit for three meals with multiple courses, a slow morning, and extensive photographs taken in a field of tulips, miles into the woods at the base of Bridal veil falls, and on the tip tops (literally) of the Rocky Mountains via helicopter, Richard & Kathryn had time to soak it all in and even have a midday nap! The day flowed naturally and with ease. Everything truly felt right and meant to be; a feeling that remaining true to your love story and planning only the essentials can bring. [/su_quote]
