Find Your Wedding Vendors

welcome to the

Blog

The search for the perfect wedding dress can be an overwhelming moment that often requires a  significant amount of time and attention. It’s no surprise that most brides spend hours, days, or even weeks trying to find “the one”. But before you take the plunge, there are a few things you should know to make the most of your appointment and ensure the best possible experience! So today on the blog, we’re joined by Grace Loves Lace, who is sharing their top 6 bridal appointment tips so you can find your dream dress and look your best!

bridal appointment tip #1:

Choose the Right Time and Place for Your Bridal Appointment

Exploring different styles, fabrics, and details is part of the magic of finding your dream dress. But  choosing the right time and place for your bridal appointment is equally important. This is a moment when you deserve to feel relaxed, confident, and focused on discovering the dress that will make you shine.

Ideally, you should start wedding dress shopping about one year out from your wedding date. While some brides may fall in love with a dress during their very first appointment, you might find yourself needing to go to a couple different appointments at a couple different boutiques to find your dress, which is totally normal.

The recommended time to purchase your wedding dress is 8-10 months before your wedding. Wedding gowns require ample time for production and shipping, meaning your dress could take up to six months (or sometimes even longer) to arrive. So you want to make sure that once you receive your dress, you still have at least 8-10 weeks to schedule alterations appointments and ensure that any final changes and fittings are complete well before the wedding day.

To ensure the ultimate bridal shopping experience, it’s crucial to find a boutique that matches your style and vision. The ambiance of the boutique should be warm and inviting, with knowledgeable and friendly stylists to guide you through the process. Different boutiques in your area will carry different designers, so make sure to do your research on which boutiques carry the types of dresses that align with your style and fit within your budget.

bridal appointment tip #2:

Prepare For Your Appointment

It’s important to be mentally ready for your appointment; Having a clear head and positive attitude will allow you to fully enjoy the experience. As your appointment draws near, take a deep breath and make sure you are well rested and not too stressed for the experience.

Preparing for your bridal appointment could also involve searching for and/or pre-selecting some of your favourite wedding gowns to make the most of your time. It’s perfectly normal if you haven’t yet decided on your dream wedding gown style or fabric yet. However, if you have pinned some inspiration on Pinterest, it can be a good idea to take them along to your appointment to show your stylist.

We also recommend you wear comfortable and appropriate undergarments that will be comfortable for the type of dress you’ll be trying on. Nude, seamless undergarments are usually the best option as they won’t show through the dress and will give you a better idea of how the dress will look like. And remember to bring a pair of heels (ideally a pair of a similar height to what you plan to wear on your special day!).

Additionally, it’s important to be mentally ready for your appointment. Having a clear head and positive attitude will allow you to fully enjoy the experience.

bridal appointment tip #3:

Be Mindful about Who You Invite to Your Appointment

Consider who you would like to bring along to your appointment. Whether it’s a family member or a close friend, make sure that each person you choose will bring positive energy to the experience. It’s important to have people who will support and encourage you, rather than make you feel stressed or pressured. Remember, this is your special day, and you deserve to have an amazing and enjoyable experience while choosing your dream dress.

bridal appointment tip #4:

Trust Your Bridal Stylist

Your bridal stylist is your ultimate partner in crime on this journey. They are there to help  you find the perfect dress and have the experience and expertise to guide you through the  process. Trust them and share your vision, your likes and dislikes, and your concerns. They  will use their knowledge to help you find the dress that matches your style and flatters  your figure.

Think of your bridal stylist as your fairy godmother, who can make all your wedding dress  dreams come true! With their expertise and knowledges of the latest bridal fashion trends,  they can help you find the perfect dress that aligns with your style and flatters your figure.

Trust that your bridal stylist will make sure that you look and feel your best on your special  day. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience.

bridal appointment tip #5:

Be Open to Trying on Different Styles and Fabrics

Feeling beautiful and confident on your special day starts with finding the perfect gown. But with so  many options to choose from, how do you decide? Your bridal appointment is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it’s the perfect moment to indulge in a variety of styles and fabrics. Even if you think you know exactly what you want, keep an open mind and try on a few different dresses to see what really flatters your silhouette the most.

Experiment with different fabrics, from the soft and delicate flow of chiffon to the dramatic and romantic look of tulle. Imagine yourself walking down the aisle in a stunning silk gown, feeling like the epitome of elegance and grace.

Your stylist is there to help you discover new styles and fabrics that you may not have considered before. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you may be surprised by how much you love it!

So embrace the moment, try on different styles, and let your inner fashionista shine through you.

bridal appointment tip #6:

Focus on the Dress That Makes You Feel Like a Queen

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to find the dress that makes you feel like the best version of you! This is the dress that speaks to your heart, that matches your vision and style, and that makes you feel confident and radiant. Don’t settle for a dress that is just “good enough”. Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and you deserve to wear a dress that makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.
