You just got engaged… now what?
First of all, congratulations!! We’re so excited for you and can’t wait to assist you in planning the celebration of your love, whatever that looks like for you!
The days and weeks after getting engaged can be some of the most exciting and joy-filled times of your life! But it can also feel like there are a lot of expectations, questions, and responsibilities that come in that timeframe too. So we’re here to help with a simple list of the first 10 things you should do after getting engaged!
one.
CELEBRATE
Take the time to truly celebrate with your fiancé, just the two of you! You won’t ever get to experience this exact moment again, so spend the day (or weekend) celebrating with your new fiancé!
two.
SHARE THE NEWS
Share your exciting news with the most important people in your life!
three.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT
Enjoy this time! Live in the moment and don’t feel pressured to make any decisions or discuss any wedding plans until you feel ready! Don’t feel like you need to start planning the wedding the very next day.
four.
INSURE YOUR RING
Call your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance and ask for the details of your jewelry coverage. You can purchase a ride (extension) that covers your engagement ring specifically.
five.
DISCUSS WHAT’S IMPORTANT
Chat with your fiancé about what’s important to each of you and what you want for your wedding; a long engagement vs short, your preferred season and location, and number of guests.
six.
PICK A DATE
After you’ve discussed the major decisions, it’s time to establish a timeline! When do you want to get married!? Try narrowing down your chosen season to a specific month.
seven.
MAKE A BUDGET
Once you figure out your general wedding date & timeline, ask yourself: What can you afford right now? How much time do you have to save? Will you be getting any help from family? Then do your research to figure out what wedding services and products in your area actually cost. Most importantly, determine what’s most important to you and that’s where you should prioritize your budget!

eight.
CHOOSE YOUR BRIDAL PARTY
Chat with your fiancé about how many bridesmaids and groomsmen you each want. Once that’s decided, ask your besties if they’ll stand beside you on your special day! There are so many cute bridesmaid proposal ideas you can gift them when you ask!
nine.
GATHER INSPIRATION
