Let yourself be immersed in this mystical beyond the grave romance – This Day of the Dead Halloween inspiration transcends traditional North American halloween by embracing the vibrant colours and rich history of the Mexican Holiday, Día de los Muertos. From the art direction and styling by Jesse Marriott, to the floral design by Calyx and candy skull makeup by La Boheme, this shoot has it all. It’s filled with plenty of creative ideas for your next spook-tacular Halloween, whether you’re needing inspiration for a costume or party decor!
Día de los Muertos is all about honouring those that have passed, while also celebrating the beauty of life with a vibrant dance of colours, flavours, and emotions. The creative team of vendors from Alberta made sure to respect and honour the authenticity of this Mexican tradition; They invited a couple with Latin American heritage to join the shoot as the bride and groom, to participate and to help influence the direction of the shoot and its authenticity.
With moody lighting and an all-around gorgeous set-up, get ready to experience the beauty and vibrancy of Dia de los Muertos, in this stunning Day of the Dead Halloween Inspiration, captured by Nikki Collette Photography.
I also loved that we used an old fountain as a beautiful altar. We even had our models, both being of Latin American and Hispanic descent, bring photos of their family members who had passed, to truly remember what the celebration is about and have their spirits and memories with us.
