welcome to the

As you’re preparing for your wedding day, there’s one pre-wedding experience you might not have considered but should definitely put on your radar: a bridal boudoir session. While the idea of posing in lingerie might seem intimidating at first, a bridal boudoir session offers numerous benefits beyond capturing stunning photos. (And you should know, you don’t necessarily need to choose lingerie as your attire!)

In this post, we’re sharing why every bride should consider booking a bridal boudoir session and providing tips on how to prepare for this empowering experience. By following these tips, including advice and insights from Calgary photographer Christy D Swanberg, you’ll ensure that you’re well-prepared both mentally and physically for an empowering and memorable experience. So, embrace your natural beauty, stay true to yourself, and get ready to capture stunning images that celebrate your confidence and femininity.

As the owner and lead photographer at Hello There Darling Boudoir in Calgary, Alberta, over the last fourteen years I have seen more brides choosing to get some of their “getting ready” bridal images done before the big day. They want to celebrate this significant rite of passage in their lives while also can having the opportunity to capture their feminine essence. It is my belief that with regards to brides, they are intentionally devoting more attention to their physical and mental selves as they count down to their wedding celebration with their family and friends. Not to mention, they are taking more opportunities to remember who they are and how they felt flawless and beautiful in this time of their life. Many of my clients choose to print some artisan prints or have a small portrait album to share with their-soon-to-be spouse (sort of like a brag book to look back on for decades to come!). It Can Be A Special Gift For Your Partner

A bridal boudoir album makes for a memorable and intimate gift for your partner-to-be. It’s a personal and romantic gesture that they’ll cherish for years to come, capturing your beauty and confidence in a tasteful and artistic way.

Advice For How to Prepare For Your Bridal Boudoir Session:

1. Bring Multiple Outfit Options & Styles

Plan multiple outfits and looks for your bridal session to add variety and diversity to your photoshoot. Select lingerie and attire that make you feel confident and beautiful. You can try different styles to showcase different facets of your personality.

2. Pamper Yourself to Prepare For The Shoot

We recommend planning to have your hair and makeup professionally done for your session, just to enhance your natural beauty! Opt for a look that makes you feel comfortable and confident. You may also want to consider getting a manicure and pedicure as well,to look and feel polished for the photos.

Prioritize rest the night before your session to ensure you feel refreshed and energized for your photoshoot. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session to keep your skin looking radiant and hydrated.

3. Communicate With Your Photographer

Discuss your preferences, concerns, and any specific ideas or themes you have in mind with your photographer. They can offer guidance and suggestions to ensure the session meets your expectations. Ask your photographer if they offer styling assistance before and during the shoot to help you look and feel your best.

4. Do What Makes You Feel Comfortable & Confident

Choose attire that you’re confident in and poses that you’re comfortable with. If you’re feeling nervous or uncomfortable leading up to the session, consider having a trusted friend accompany you for support and encouragement.

5. Stay True to Yourself

Stay authentic to yourself and avoid trying to portray someone you’re not. Your bridal boudoir session should reflect your true essence, personality, and style.
