Reception Place Setting Inspiration // 6 Napkin ideas For Your Wedding Table
If you’re a DIY bride who envisions your wedding to be elegant, beautiful, and thoughtful down to the smallest detail, (but wants to do everything herself), we know table settings can be a little overwhelming. How many plates? And what kind of glassware? What style am I going for? How do I infuse my colour palette into the table decor?
Napkins are a great way to add that pop of colour and texture to your place setting! And there’s so many different folds, placements, & designs you can create with them! Today, we’re sharing inspiration of how to design and style your place settings, and showing you 6 different fold & placement ideas for your napkin!
You can use these napkin fold ideas for your wedding, or any small event really! We hope this will help to inspire your wedding reception table styling and decor, so you can really nail your napkin folds and add a thoughtfully style touch to your place settings on the day!
one.
The Tri Fold
Fold into equal thirds and then fold in half length wise. Iron edges for a crisp fold. Place under your salad plate, over your full setting, or off to the side.
two.
The Knot Fold
Fold in half to make a triangle, and then fold again 2 more times to make a long thin shape. Take both ends and tie a knot. Fiddle with how tight or loose the knot is until you get your desired look.
three.
the placed & plated look
This one is simple, and gives a more rustic/organic look to your setting. Place the napkin across your plate, and then crumple in the middle section with your hand until your two fingers are touching. Place salad plate over top to weight the napkin in place.
four.
The Knot & Wrap
Start with the knot fold (see before) and then wrap the napkin into a circular shape. Place bowl (or guest favour, etc) on top to weight in place. Fiddle around until you like the look of it.
five.
The High Knot Fold
Similar to the knot fold, you’ll fold the napkin in half to make a triangle, make a couple extra folds so it’s a long slim shape, and then tie it into a knot. But this time, instead of making a knot in the middle, tie the knot as close to one end as possible, and then tuck away the excess napkin into the knot folds.
six.
The organic wrap
Want something more romantic and organic? Use chiffon or crepe, and wrap your cutlery in it. You could also tie the fabric in a bow, and keep it on the plate like above, or have the bow-tied flatware off to the side.
